For new courses:

  1. Instructor requests course (through online request form)
  2. Course information entered into FileMaker Database
    1. ISIS Term
    2. Subject
    3. Catalog #
    4. Section
    5. Course #
    6. Course Description
    7. Instructor name and username
  3. FileMaker generates Blackboard CourseID and Course Name
  4. Generated CourseID submitted to Registrar’s office to get “Flagged” in ISIS for Blackboard Roster Extract.
  5. Registrar’s Office verifies that the correct course information was requested.  If not, we verify in ISIS the correct information and re-submit.
  6. After CourseID has been verified and “flagged”, course is created using the information in Step #3.
  7. Instructor and Designers added to course.
  8. FileMaker generates an email to Recipients listed in Step #7.
  9. Change “Flag Status” in FileMaker to be “Completed [Date]”
Repeat Courses Most courses, once “Flagged” in ISIS, will retain the Flag status and will be “Pre-Flagged” the next semester they are offered. We generate a list of all the new semester courses, extract out the “Pre-Flagged” courses and then verify that those courses are being taught by the previous instructor.  If it is a different instructor, the FileMaker “Flag Status” field will be labeled “Pre-Flagged” until the course is requested.  Eventually, any “unclaimed” courses will be “Unflagged” in ISIS so that the Blackboard Roster Extracts will not be generated for those courses. Process for repeat course creation:
  1. Generate extract of all “flagged” courses for upcoming term
  2. Import that list into FileMaker, and run a comparison of “Pre-Flagged” courses to previously offered courses.
  3. If the same instructor is listed, make note of previous CourseID to use as the “Initial Course Content” for the new course shell.
  4. Change “Flag Status” field to say “Verified [Date]”
  5. Determine cross-listing status, and verify (or flag) any other required sections.
  6. Migrate the course content from originating system and create the courses
  7. Instructor and Designers added to course.
  8. FileMaker generates an email to Recipients listed in Step #7.
  9. Change “Flag Status” in FileMaker to be “Completed [Date]”
